If cat ladies get a bad rap, cat guys get an even worse one. Men aren’t supposed to like cats—their pet of choice should be the dog, you know, man‘s best friend. But guess what? It’s okay to be a cat guy. In fact, cat guys are awesome.
February 7-13 is Cat Guy Week. The event was created by the Much Love Animal Rescue in Los Angeles in order to show that there’s nothing wrong with being a cat guy and to “[encourage] men to embrace the male/feline bond with a week that is all theirs.”
For too long man and his canine friend have dominated the human/pet relationship headlines. And while there’s nothing wrong with that, there’s another union that often goes overlooked. There are men in this country, in this city to be exact, that don’t march to the beat of the doggie drum. They like cats. And although it’s not the norm in society, they are proud to be known as Cat Guys.
At first thought you might think these men to be on the softer side, but truth is they are anything but. They are some of the most manliest, most rugged, most testosterone-filled individuals on the planet. This week we celebrate Cat Guys and hope to add to their ranks.
During this week, all guys can adopt a cat from Much Love for only $50! LA City shelters are also offering a discounted adoption rate of $50.50 for anyone who adopts this week. All cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. How can you pass this up, guys?!
Check out the following videos of “manly” men (a biker, a boxer, and a bartender) who love cats and prove that it is most certainly okay—and not at all effeminating—to be a cat guy.
If you’re a guy who loves cats or a woman who loves guys who love cats, be sure to join the movement today!
If you haven’t seen Banksy’s documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop, then this video might seem rather strange to you. (I highly recommend watching the film if you haven’t—it’s a pretty interesting look into street art.) If you have seen it, and are familiar with Keyboard Cat, then you should enjoy this.
You can view a 24-hour live stream and the various artwork featured in the video here.
I love how the orange ones jerks to the beat and how the gray one isn’t even the least bit agitated.
Jane can’t figure out why she’s single. She meets lots of guys, but just can’t keep them for some reason. If it weren’t for her cat, Mr. Socks, she wouldn’t know what to do. Little does she know that Mr. Socks may in fact be the cause of her singledom…
