brilliant cat watercolors by sinclair stratton
Today, I discovered the watercolors of Sinclair Stratton, who specializes in absolutely gorgeous paintings of animals and pets. Her choice of vibrant colors creates fantastic pieces. She does commissions for pet portriats as well. Her work is visually stunning, and unlike anything I’ve seen. Click each photo to view it on her website, where she tells a story about how the painting came about!
Malinke
I think that this one is my absolute favorite, though they are all extremely beautiful:
Olivia

Sinclair has even painted some amazing big cats!
Zuri’s Tail
A commission piece is extremely tempting. At the very least, I will be ordering one of these prints. I could stare at any of these on my wall for hours!
the art of elize nazelie—plus a giveaway!
A few weeks ago I posted an adorable Tom Kitten tattoo designed by Elize Nazelie. Elize is not only a fantastic tattoo artist, but she’s also a painter. You can find her wonderful watercolor originals and prints in her Etsy store. My favorites, of course, are her cat paintings.
Here are a few more of her pieces from her DeviantArt gallery:
These last two pieces feature Elize’s kitty, Nimbus. She is also in the “Weathercats” piece above.
Don’t you just love Elize’s work? Well, guess what—it’s your lucky day, because we’re doing a giveaway for one of her “Kitten Kitchen” prints!
All you have to do to enter is 1) be a fan of ModCatLove on Facebook and 2) leave a comment on this post telling us which featured piece of artwork you like the most.
The giveaway will end on May 29th at 5pm CST and is open to all readers.
If you like Elize’s work, be sure to check out her portfolio, DeviantArt gallery, and Facebook page. If you’re looking for a tattoo artist who takes tattooing as an art very seriously and you happen to live in the Boston area, Elize works at The Boston Tattoo Company in Somerville, MA.
etsy spotlight: dog pop art
You might be thinking, “Wait a second… Dog Pop Art?” But before you run off disappointed or wondering if I’ve gone crazy, you’ll be glad to hear that artist Angela Bond, owner of Dog Pop Art, paints cats as well as dogs. You can find prints of her lovely, vibrant acrylic paintings in her shop for $28 each. Here are some of my favorites.
keep calm and carry on… with cats!
I’m sure most of you have seen those “Keep Calm and Carry On” posters that are so very popular. I don’t care for them myself, but I’ve seen a lot of parodies that are pretty good. And there are also some kitty-themed ones out there!
Here are some prints I’ve found on Etsy:
Artmosphera offers some printable graphics that you can use as iron-ons.
BowWowzerZ sells pet ID tags and carries a few “Keep Calm” ones. This is my favorite, because it relays a good (if obvious) message:
You can find some cute “Keep Calm” cards on the SAD FACE Etsy shop, too.
etsy spotlight: collage-o-rama
I love oddball cat-related things, and I’m a big advocate of recycling and upcycling, so of course I really enjoy these fun prints from Collage-O-Rama. What they do is take pages from old dictionaries about to be destroyed and upcycle them in order to create unique, rather odd pieces of art that are environmentally-friendly. How cool! They also have a sister store called Note Art that does prints on sheet music.
All of the prints are just $6.99, and if you buy three prints, you’ll get a fourth one free!
Are the prints above just a bit too silly for you? Well, no worries—they have many prints to choose from, and you can even get your own custom print made, using a photograph of your choice!
Custom prints are currently on sale for $19.99, marked down from $29.95. I’m actually thinking about offering a custom print for our next giveaway. How does that sound? Anyone interested? :3
