best of nyan nyan nyanko plushies

In February, Pixelcat introduced us to the fantastically adroable San-X character Nyan Nyan Nyanko. It’s no secret that I still just love cat plushies, and Nyan Nyan Nyanko plushies are seriously some of the cutest around. Though they are very difficult to find for purchase, I had to share some of the coolest ones I found recently!

First up! Cream puff Nyankos!

Next, a delicious-looking batch of Dim Sum Nyankos.

Ready for lunch? A Nyanko Hot Pot!

A Nyanko Pan Cake!

The All-American Burger—with a Nyanko twist!

Or, if you prefer, Nyanko-Nuggets! With mustard and BBQ sauce!

Can’t forget breakfast—Nyanko Omelette!

I’m ready for a beer and some Nyanko Sushi.

And for an appetizer, how about some lightly fried Nyanko Tempura?

So cute! Now I want to cuddle a cat and eat something delicious…

etsy spotlight: dancingintherains

dancingintherains

There are a lot of great Etsy shops out there, no doubt about it, and it’s hard to choose a favorite. But one of my very favorites is dancingintherains. The shop owner, Gwen, makes some of the cutest items and a good deal of them are kitty-themed.

These plush kitties are so, so adorable. They are also part of Etsy Project Embrace, an Etsy team aiming to raise money for cancer research. 10% of the proceeds of these plush kitties (as well as some of the shop’s other items) will go to the American Cancer Society.

The shop has lots of different types of bags, such as tote bags, mini purses, pencil cases, card cases, and cellphone cases. Gwen designs and makes each piece, and every one of them is one of a kind.

In addition to plush kitties and bags, the shop also has a nice selection of prints reproduced from Gwen’s paintings.

dancingintherains - "Follow Me"

dancingintherains - "Dreamland"

Gwen is not only helping support cancer awareness, but is also donating to earthquake relief in Japan. 50% of the proceeds from the three prints below will be donated to World Vision to help Japanese children and families affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

Don’t you just love the items in this shop? I’m having a hard time keeping myself from buying the whole store! I want to buy something, but I can’t decide on what!

blast from the past! KITTY SURPRISE.

When I was about 4 years old living in New Jersey, one of my strongest (and stupidest) memories is yanking my blinds up as far as they would go at night and wishing on a star for a “Kitty Surprise,” a plush cat that came in bizarre colors with a velcro pouch containing kittens. As my parents wouldn’t let me have a real cat (for one thing, I was 4, poorly equipped to know how to take care of a pet, and both of my parents were rarely home enough to assist), I thought Kitty Surprise was one of the best things ever. When we moved to Michigan and I turned five, I FINALLY GOT ONE. This was my first ever Kitty Surprise (I was shocked and happy to find this photo on Miss_Leonie‘s flickr):

At the time, I still loved pink, so you can only imagine how I just about died when I opened this gift. A pretty pink mama cat and her precious little kittens. I played with this for hours on end. Kinda wondering how much it retailed for back in the early 90′s, as I’m sure you’d be hard pressed to get a kid to play with one today if it didn’t move, as Hasbro’s replacement LuLu My Cuddlin’ Kitty does, for $55. Though, honestly, at 5 years old I’d probably have wanted a LuLu, too.
