a caturday collection: rain on a caturday

It’s not raining here, today, but I just adore rainy days! There’s not much better than curling up with a mug of coffee and a kitty to watch the rain. Or, as some of the kitties below prefer, hanging out in the rain!

friday’s featured feline: apple

It’s been much too long since we’ve had a Featured Feline post! You know you want to show off your kitties, and you know they want their 15 minutes of fame, so be sure to send us your submission!

Today we’re going to meet Apple, who became a great friend and companion to owner James in a time of loneliness. Take it away, James!

Allow me to introduce Apple, the medium-haired cat whose motivation to do absolutely nothing as often as possible could actually serve as a source of alternative energy if only it could be harnessed.

apple

When I first adopted Apple from the local shelter, she was only three months old. My girlfriend at the time suggested I adopt a pet because I was living alone and often times found myself to be depressed and lonely. Because I worked third shift and had to work long hours on occasion, a cat was the ideal candidate for a pet, and thus I adopted Apple (that was the name given to her by the folks at the shelter; it just seemed to fit her, so I didn’t bother changing it).

Apple is typically a very somber cat, and she is extremely quiet. When she was younger, she talked quite a bit, but as she aged she mellowed out considerably. She is now approximately two and a half years old, and spends most of her time within five feet of the heater in my new flat.

Although Apple is quiet and doesn’t enjoy play time very much, she is an extremely affectionate cat. More often than not, I am woken up each morning to the feeling of her silly cat tongue licking my feet or my hands. Whenever I am home, she makes it a point to follow me from room to room and purr like a freight train (unless, of course, the heater is looking particularly inviting that day).

apple

After spending two years with this cat, I have to say that my girlfriend’s suggestion turned out to be absolutely brilliant; Apple has kept me company and lifted my spirits when no humans were around to do so. It has been a true joy owning her, and I look forward to many healthy years for both of us in the future.

Want us to feature your cat(s)? Of course you do! We’re accepting submissions!
