pickles the drummer: boy, or girl?
So, the shelter from which I adopted good old Pickles the Drummer automatically signed me up for e-mail coupons and stuff from a company they partner with called ShelterCare Pet Insurance. I don’t usually see the photos in the e-mails when I look at them on my phone, and I hadn’t realized that they were sending me a picture of Pickles from her time at the shelter in each one. When I first went searching for a cat to adopt, I checked out one of my city’s pet adoption websites, and they had this hilarious photo of Pickles on the site:

It was around the 4th of July, hence all the patriotic decor. When she came into the shelter, for some reason, they thought she was a boy and gave her the name “Paul Revere.” I had been looking for a boy cat, and though I looked at other kitties when I went to the shelter and loved them all, I liked “Paul” the best.
Somehow, nobody realized “Paul” was a girl until they took her to get neutered–and she actually needed spaying. They called me the day I was supposed to pick her up said, “So, it turns out that “Paul” is actually “Paula.” Do you still want her?” Of course I did! But getting that picture in the e-mail reminded me of that story, and I had to share. :3 Sometimes I still tease her by calling her “Paul Revere.” She does run around the house alerting everyone of her presence, after all!
kitty tree adventure!
It’s no secret that Clementine likes to climb trees. She’s extremely agile, and can get up and down from any tree (so far). Pickles, on the other hand, likes to run at trees and hang on the trunk to show off, and usually when she gets up in a tree, she has problems getting down. She’s had to be rescued twice.
Whenever they are outside together and Clem gets in a tree, Pickles always tries to follow, not to be outdone. Luckily, this time they hung out in a lower-to-the-ground tree, so it was no problem for Pick. Check out these cuuuute photos, courtesy of my sis! Click each image to view a larger version! <3
Clementine way up in the branches.
She’s so serious about her tree-time.
Pickles the Drummer looks like a panther in the jungle, here!
I wonder, what caught her attention?
Happy Pickle in a tree.
pickles is a freak-cat!
As you all may remember, Pickles the Drummer absolutely loves this foam neon nerf ball we had laying around the house. It’s become her favorite toy. She gets extremely riled up about it, and her favorite place to play is the stairs. My sister and I were playing with her and my sister shot some pretty funny video of Pickles’ totally bizarre position of attack on the stairs–top and bottom halves of her body wrapped around a rail! Excuse our laughter–we just couldn’t help it!
cat drama.
Oftentimes, one of my cats will find something interesting that they love, and one of the others will then take it over. Pickles found a tray left over from getting groceries, and she jumped right in, rolled around, and was generally acting ridiculously cute, and getting a lot of attention for it.
PRECIOUSSS.
Kitty didn’t take too kindly to all the attention Pickles was getting, so he usurped the box and then proceeded to pout in it.
“My box.”
Do your kitties fight over space and toys? Who usually comes out the winner?
can you spot pickles?
The weather is wonderful, and my three kitties are loving it outside!
There used to be a fancy garden in the property beside ours, but since the owner sold us our house, he’s let it fall to the wayside over the years. It’s now quite overgrown and a beloved playground for my cats.
Yesterday, they were all hanging out there together! Clementine is in the foreground (naturally!) and Kitty is resting in the grass. Can you spot Pickles in this photo (click the photo to enlarge)?
Have you found her? She was hiding on a big rock!
pickles protects her toys from thieves!
I’ve had a tough couple of weeks and a not-so-good morning. I was delighted when my sister sent me these pictures of Pickles, hiding in a laundry basket with her favorite toy–probably to make sure nobody else could play with it!
