As ridiculous as this thing is…. I kinda want it. I usually really don’t like toys like this, but this one is definitely an exception. It’s so silly, but what kind of cat lady would I be without it?
This past weekend I was fortunate enough to attend my very first Dragon*Con, and I had a blast. And yes, I did dress up. I’m something of a nerd (if you didn’t know), and I absolutely LOVE dressing up. I was very excited about one costume in particular, but it ended up being something of a disaster…
Just what was said costume? Well, in theory it was supposed to be a sexy Nyan Cat girl. I’d never seen one before—Nyan Cat costumes almost always consist of a large cardboard cutout or a pillowcase—so I just had to do it. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out at all as I had expected, i.e. it wasn’t very sexy. Which is a bummer, because not only did I not have an awesome costume as I had hoped, but I put quite a bit of time and money into it.
Anyway, there were quite a few Nyan Cats there, and I’m happy to say that most of them were not just cardboard cutouts. (If you really want to see my costume, there’s a picture of it on the Facebook page. I’m not gonna post it here.)
There were some other popular internet cats, like Ceiling Cat:
And Keyboard Cat:
There were a few Cheshire Cats running about, but this one was no doubt the wildest:
Also some Thundercats (would’ve liked to see the whole group!):
And, it’s kind of a stretch, but Josie and the Pussycats were also there:
There was even a Cat Face!
It was bound to happen sooner or later, and I doubt this will be the last of them. I can’t really say anything about getting silly cat tattoos, and I’ve actually considered getting some famous internet cats inked on me, but a meme tattoo? Not sure if I’m that crazy…
Thanks to Pawesome for featuring this awesome Cat Flag tattoo. Back in January, Cat Flag was created and subsequently various other Black Flag mashups appeared. Of all the memes to grace the internet, this is probably one of the better ones to be in tattoo form.
If you really like the Cat Flag and want to wear it proudly, but just not permanently on your skin, then check out this shirt from RedBubble:
Happy 4th of July! Enjoy this patriotic Nyan Cat, and be careful with those fireworks!
The first time I watched this, I didn’t realize it was the cat that was barking. I love how it stops once it realizes there’s a human in the room and resumes meowing as if nothing happened.
Here are the rage comic photos that go along with it, found on Tumblr:
