black cat auditions in 1960′s Hollywood!

This photoset has been making the rounds for awhile, but my pal Amanda linked me to them the other day and it was my first time seeing them. As a black cat owner and lover, I had to share them! For a role in a horror film, you can’t just pick a random cat and hope for the best–you have to pick the one that stands out best in the black cat auditions!

Lining up to audition… hoping your kitty stands out!

The luckiest kitties got to meet master of horror, Vincent Price!!

This kitty can certainly take direction!

who says your cat wouldn’t rescue you?

My old college pal Steven linked on his facebook to this equally charming and amusing Chinese drugstore commercial, featuring a cat who will do absolutely anything to rescue one of his humans from a dreadful cold. Totally cute, a bit of a tear-jerker, and good for a chuckle! Watch the trials one cat will go through to reach a Mannings Drug Store!

I love to believe my cats would do this, but I’ll just be content to have them curled up in my lap when I’m feeling under the weather.

the cutest ewok kitty costume

I wish I had found this super cute costume a few days ago so I could’ve included it in my Caturday Collection: Cats in Costume post, but ah well, as a Star Wars-lover, I think it deserves a post of its own!

Megan, the creator of the costume says:

This year, I opted not to carve a pumpkin. Instead, I channeled my crafty impulses into making something for Lilly. Something awesome. I made her a Wicket costume.

Thank goodness Ewok headdresses are so poorly sewn (Ewoks may have opposable thumbs but they’re still pretty bad with a needle), it makes my ineptitude look authentic.

video double feature: jedi kittens

jedi kittens

A couple weeks ago, a short clip was released featuring a couple of kittens battling with lightsabers. The Star Wars-loving cat lady in me is a bit ashamed for not posting it (I believe I was too busy freaking out over readying myself for Dragon*Con), so here it is now, followed by its sequel, Jedi Kittens Strike Back, which was released a couple of days ago.

Will there be a third installment to complete the trilogy? I certainly hope so!

And for all of those who might be concerned about the treatment of the cats, they were treated very gently and were not harmed.

awesomely nerdy: tardis cat house

I recently got into Doctor Who, and so I find this Tardis cat house pretty awesome. It looks like it’s really well-constructed, and it would serve as some great decor in addition to being a cozy little cat house.

If only it were bigger on the inside! Then you could stuff some litter boxes in there as well, maybe a dozen or two. Hell, you could have a whole entire kitty suite in there! And I would totally make my cats wear bowties and fezzes.

“meowabunga!” teenage mewtant ninja tabbies

Meowabunga by Ashley Culver

This is one of the most awesome things I’ve ever seen. When I was quite young, I had a thing for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I don’t know if you can really be obsessed with something when you’re that young, but I definitely loved them (especially Michelangelo). I had toys, I had a tent, I even dressed up as one for Halloween. Years later, now a full fledged cat lady, I was happy to stumble upon this gem, and it’s totally made my day.

This whimsical piece of art was created by Ashley Culver as part of the Autumn Society Shell-Shock Ninja Turtles Show, which is today, June 3rd, in Philadelphia.

Just for fun, here’s Persephone and Michelangelo in an epic battle.
