keep calm and carry on… with cats!

I’m sure most of you have seen those “Keep Calm and Carry On” posters that are so very popular. I don’t care for them myself, but I’ve seen a lot of parodies that are pretty good. And there are also some kitty-themed ones out there!

Here are some prints I’ve found on Etsy:

keep cats and kitty on

keep calm and meow on

keep calm and love cats

keep calm and obey kitty

keep calm and love a cat

Artmosphera offers some printable graphics that you can use as iron-ons.

BowWowzerZ sells pet ID tags and carries a few “Keep Calm” ones. This is my favorite, because it relays a good (if obvious) message:

keep calm and call my home pet tag

You can find some cute “Keep Calm” cards on the SAD FACE Etsy shop, too.

sad face - get busy and chase your tail

sad face - keep calm and eat cake

sad face - stay out and party on

best of swarovski crystal cats

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loveloveloved Swarovski figurines. As much as I love things like Nascar and wrestling in the mud and helping my old man work on his old cars, I love pretty, glittery things… especially pretty, glittery kitties.

First, we have a beckoning lucky cat, which I couldn’t resist posting in honor of Pixelcat’s Etsy store, luckycatcrotchet.

Here are two cheerful, playful kittens. Look at their glowing green eyes!

These two kitties are part of a neat set where the designers gave the cats names and personalities. This couple is Marie & Pierre. Their description says they are “completely in love!” How sweet!

This playful magenta kitten is named Emily, and she’s described as dreamy and a true romantic. I love how the metal butterfly looks as an accent to the crystal.

This copper-colored cat is named Camille. She’s warm and generous, with a gentle personality and a passion for art. Her sleepy look is just so cute.

These two prim ladies are Ines (left) and Diane (right). They are both fashionable, elegant, share a love of fine jewelry, and are quite proud!

This figurine is much larger than the little kitties prior, which is fitting for a panther with such power and grace. I just love this piece, it’s absolutely stunning.

Unfortunately, I have yet to start my crystal collection, but one day I’d like to. These cats are just impossible to resist!

ikea cats

We moved our smaller Expedit into the bedroom nook so we can get bigger desks in our office. Of course the cats were curious, so when a couple of them jumped into the bookcase, we grabbed the other two and stuck them in their own cubes. It’s somewhat rare to get all four cats in one picture. Well, a good picture, anyway.

Here’s another shot of all my kitties on Ikea furniture, passed out on the orange Tylosand couch.

I bet they are dreaming of being in this video:

5 awesome products for kitty living.

As we’re always on the lookout here for modern, artsy cat stuff for cool cat lovers, I thought I’d share some of my favorite products I’ve found around the web recently.

First, we have a cute little makeup bag/pencil case from modcloth.com. As someone who always had a million stuffed cats growing up, I found this particularly wonderful.

Next up, this awesome cat clock from weebl’s stuff, based on their cute, silly (albiet a bit odd haha) cartoon.

I love the look of the silhouette wall decals that are out now, and these pretty kitties from allposters.com add a cool look to any wall.

Really loving this tabby cat rug from urbanoutfitters.com. He looks so sleek on the hardwood.

Last but not least, my personal favorite, the pink siamese cat floor lamp by Offi, available at allmodern.com. I actually own this lamp (though I got at about half-price)! It’s so pretty, and gives off a soft pink glow. Looks very cool, and the cord is easily hideable.

So, there you have it! While kitchsy cat gear (this guy is so cute, but cat figurines aren’t usually considered modern decor–haha :) ) can be cute and fun, it’s nice to see cats in a more modern, funky style.

mechanical kitty coin bank

This kitty coin bank from ThinkGeek is pretty cute, if a bit silly. You place a coin on the fish, the kitty meows then reaches out and grabs it, pulling it into the box. It’s definitely adorable, though for $29.99 it’s a bit expensive for a coin bank. I also imagine it would take forever if you had a lot of change to put in, haha.

See it in action!

I hope one day my house will be nice enough to make it onto Apartment Therapy. If it happens, I’m sure my cats will make an appearance!
