This snow leopard is so fuzzy!
Speaking of snow leopards, check out this little cutie!
She’s over at the Chattanooga Zoo, which is not too terribly far from here. I may just have to make a trip to see her!
I’m trying to come up with a theme for Thursdays. I’d like to have a day for big cats, so I was thinking maybe… Big Cat Roarsday? Or is that dumb? If so, then maybe Thirsty Thursday would work. In either case, here’s a picture that applies to both:
As we mentioned in our recent post about National Geographic’s Little Kitties for Big Cats, big cats such as lions, tigers, and cheetahs are losing numbers every day. According to National Geographic, in the last 50 years, the number of lions has decreased from 450,000 to a mere 20,000.
In order to raise awareness about the decline of big cats and of lions in particular, National Geographic is coming out with a new film called The Last Lions, which details the everyday challenges that lions must face in order to survive. It focuses on the lioness Mau di Tau (“Mother of Lions”) and the struggles she must overcome in order to protect her cubs. The film is coming to theaters on February 18th, and proceeds will go to the Cause an Uproar campaign and the Big Cats Initiative.
Let’s help save our dear kitties’ big, beautiful cousins!
Cats are everywhere—there’s definitely no shortage of them. But the number of big cats like lions, tigers, and cheetahs is dropping every day. National Geographic has begun a new initiative to help save big cats called Little Kitties for Big Cats.
For as low as $5, you can help save big cats and have your kitty’s photo posted on the National Geographic website.
Show your love for not just little kitties but big cats, too, and donate today! They need our help!
