etsy spotlight: dancingintherains
There are a lot of great Etsy shops out there, no doubt about it, and it’s hard to choose a favorite. But one of my very favorites is dancingintherains. The shop owner, Gwen, makes some of the cutest items and a good deal of them are kitty-themed.
These plush kitties are so, so adorable. They are also part of Etsy Project Embrace, an Etsy team aiming to raise money for cancer research. 10% of the proceeds of these plush kitties (as well as some of the shop’s other items) will go to the American Cancer Society.
The shop has lots of different types of bags, such as tote bags, mini purses, pencil cases, card cases, and cellphone cases. Gwen designs and makes each piece, and every one of them is one of a kind.
In addition to plush kitties and bags, the shop also has a nice selection of prints reproduced from Gwen’s paintings.
Gwen is not only helping support cancer awareness, but is also donating to earthquake relief in Japan. 50% of the proceeds from the three prints below will be donated to World Vision to help Japanese children and families affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
Don’t you just love the items in this shop? I’m having a hard time keeping myself from buying the whole store! I want to buy something, but I can’t decide on what!
cute kitty ink drawings!
Apologies for the lack of posts, my friends! Went to the NASCAR races at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend, and the hotel internet wasn’t working. Being a bit tech savvy, I did work to solve the problem, including hanging on the phone with the hotel’s ISP for a looong time, but it never did get fixed. And as always, school is quite overwhelming.
But! Despite all that, I’ve got some cute line art I just had to share with you all. You may recall that back in January, ModernCat did a little giveaway for a custom kitty alphabet print by Jamie Shelman. She sells through her etsy store, The Dancing Cat. She has a unique, simplistic style that I just adore. Here are a few of my favorites of her work!

Bop! An occurance all cat-owners with multiple cats are familiar with.

Spring Fever. Love the colors on his little spandex unitard! Haha!

Burrito Disguise. The eyepatch is the best.

Can’t We All Just Learn To Live Together?
I just can’t wait to get another job and actually have money. Gotta have one of these!
cat tat tuesday: gemma correll’s kitties
Last week I featured Gemma Correll’s wonderful illustrations. Well, guess what I found? Some kitty tattoos of her illustrations!
Gah, they are so cute! I told myself, no more cat tattoos, buuuut… these are pretty great. :D
illustrations by gemma correll
I love all of Gemma Correll‘s illustrations, but of course her cats are my favorite. I especially like the illustrations of the two cats talking. I just love the simplicity and wittiness of them.
Here are some of my favorites:

For more illustrations, check out her website, blog, Tumblr, and Flickr gallery. She also has a shop where you can buy things like shirts and tote bags featuring her illustrations, but unfortunately it’s closed at the moment. Sad times! I hope it will be open soon.
a new breed of cat
A new breed of cat has been discovered, and it’s too cute! Not to mention tasty-looking…
Featuring… the unicupcat!
cat tat tuesday
This is one of the cutest and most unique tattoos I’ve seen. It’s so silly, I love it!
According to the owner of the tat, it’s from a Victorian card.
Update: I’ve discovered that this is actually from a piece of Louis Wain’s artwork. I have to say, I am very, very tempted to get this inked on me, perhaps with the cats changed up a bit to look more like my own.
