2013 cats i know calendar!

MCLers, I am extremely happy to introduce you to the very talented artist Kaori Mitsushima. She is both a painter and an illustrator whose style is in part a blend of both Japanese and Western artistic influences. Her style is very unique, and the best part? She loves cats as much as we do!

What I’m particularly excited to tell you about Kaori is that she has a wonderful 2013 Cats I Know calendar available in her etsy shop right now!

The Calendar features cats in all sorts of humanlike stances and outfits, with simple but beautiful lines and soft colors, and each illustration is themed based on the month and its corresponding season! My personal favorite is the March kitty fishing for cupcakes!

This calendar would make an asbolutely purrfect Christmas gift–but I think I’m just going to have to get one of these gems for myself! A stunning new kitty illustration every month is sure to brighten up your 2013! <3

MORE cats in song lyrics!

Last year, we featured the blog Kitties&BS by artist Sofia Falcon, who inserts the word “cat” into song lyrics and adds hilarious drawings. I thought it was about time we featured some more!

cat tat tuesday: lucky the cat anti valentine

gaia kitty tattoo

Says the owner,

This is my first tattoo. This one is to show my passion for felines! The original design was made by ethe.

Done by Manassés at Hell Bodyart in Araraquara, SP.

Here is the original artwork by DeviantArt user ethe, designed as an anti-Valentine for the online community Gaia:

Lucky the Cat Anti Valentine by ethe

This kitty might be pissed off about Valentine’s Day, but he sure is cute!

maneki neko monday: misfortune cat?

As we are all well-aware, I am a fan of some very weird things and have a macabre sense of humor. Today I want to bring you yet another one of those internet oddities by introducing Misfortune Cat:

Misfortune Cat is an amusing, dark take on the Maneki Neko thought up by designer Ferg, whose site is unfortunately down for maintenance. The Misfortune Cat came about as a vinyl toy back in 2009, and from what I can gather, sold out incredibly quickly on Playge.net (which also has some other sold out but unique vinyl sculptures)!

Being a fan of creepy things, I love the funky, weirdo spin on the Maneki Neko Ferg came up with. Though the original Misfortune Cat is no longer available, a few designers have made customs of Misfortune Cat available at munkyking.com:

These twisted Maneki Nekos are probably way too strange for most people, but they are right up my alley! Hahaha! They are very amusing to me, and still …kind of cute!
