As you all well know, I love my cats (and every cat ever). Even aside from what I share on here, I have a plethora of idiotic videos and photos of my cats doing silly things. Mostly these are for sharing with my sister who is away at college. She misses our cats and the dumb things they do, and video and photo sharing is so easy now, I can’t resist. I can fully understand and appreciate wanting to document every last little cute thing your precious ball of fluff does! And we have to be able to laugh at ourselves as cat owners and all the ridiculous pictures hogging up our phones and cameras trying to capture that perfect pose.
There are plenty of adorable, wonderful cat videos out there–and many of them are very creative. While every one of the cats in cat videos are undeniably cute, some make you wonder what the fellow cat owner was thinking as their finger hovered over the “upload” button. For instance…
If for some unimaginable reason you’ve never done a youtube search for “cat peeing on the toilet,” this is what you can expect:
The first result has over 9,000,000 views, and was apparently featured on Animal Planet. 9,000,000 people out there have watched a cat pee on the toilet and then scratch aimlessly at the air in an attempt to cover it for a minute and a half. And this isn’t even accounting for the people who watched it more than once, or the people who showed their friends.
I get the idea: for some, it’s a novelty that a cat is peeing where a cat doesn’t normally pee (considering for some of us, “normal” can include the bed, a pile of towels, or our favorite shoes). But at the end of the day, you’re watching a cat pee on the internet, and thinking that thousands out there want to watch your cat pee, too. And in case you do want to watch a cat pee, share the love with this cat pee vid that has a measly 179 views, aptly named “My cat pee’s on the toilet, lol” :
Every cat has gotta eat. Some cats eat more than others. And some cats eat wonderfully strange things, such as in this video:

But then you have the folks who film 2 minutes of a cat who, while cute, is trying to eat its cat chow in relative peace. They even set these videos to song! You can feel like you’re chilling in a hip lounge all night long, but you’re really just watching a cat performing its most mundane and necessary activity:
Quick! Off the top of your head, how many hours a day does the average cat sleep? I hear tell it’s 16. 16! This means that if you are a cat owner, you can pretty much guarantee that the thing you will be most often able to see your cat doing is catching some Z’s. Some cats are at their cutest when sleeping, others are at their most hilarious, as “CAT SLEEPING LIKE DEAD:”
Then we have “Cat sleeping enjoy!!,” where you can watch a cute but totally motionless orange napping in a widow for a full minute and seventeen seconds.
You could get the same effect taking a picture and staring at it for the same amount of time. In fact, you could stare longer, if you wanted. Actually, I’m willing to bet that your own cat is not so far from you right now, sleeping and purring away, just waiting for you stare at it. Quick! Take a video! This moment may never happen again!!
Of course, I am just teasing my fellow cat-lovers. The internet (and youtube) is a glorious thing that lets us share our cat crazy with the rest of the world–and who am I kidding, I love any video or photo having to do with cats. But you have to admit, sometimes we are as bad as new parents with our inexplicable videos of our kitties. ;3
